Seventeen is back. On April 24, The boy group held a press conference in Seoul and talked about its first ever full album. The album to be released on April 25 has a total of 10 songs including the title track "Pretty U." Well, let's see what the second-year boy group talked about its new album.
Q. You released your first ever full album. How do you feel?
Woozi: We’ve worked on the album with our new state of mind because it's our first ever full album. Through the album, we want to show our bright energy.
Mingyu: I'm nervous now, but I want to show passionate and energetic performance to our fans. Actually, I missed our fans so much.
Joshua: It's really nice to release a very elaborate album.
Q. What do you want to achieve through your new album?
Hoshi: We want to hear that we do our own characterful music. Even though it has been less than a year since we debuted, we want to be considered as a very characterful idol group.
S.Coups: And we want to show our growth.
Q. What’s special about the album?
Seungkwan: As it is our first ever album since we got the Rookie of the Year award last year, we felt more responsible for the album. We’ve included each sub unit's music in our previous album, but this time, we included mixed-units’ songs in the album. And it’s also notable that the rappers of our team took part in singing the songs.
Q. So, how did you prepare for the album?
S.Coups: We gathered all the members' opinions to set the direction. Especially, Woozi worked hard on writing songs and Hoshi took charge of choreography.
Seungkwan: All the members took part in many things including chorus and songwriting.
Q. Tell me about the title track "Pretty U."
Woozi: It's a love song just like "Adore U" and "Mansae," but we used the word "Pretty" instead of "Love." I think "Pretty" is more intimate word than "Love" and "Like." Actually, our fan club has recently been formed, and we wanted to tell them “You’re pretty.”
Q. How did you design the choreography of "Pretty U"?
Hoshi: I designed it with a professional choreographer. At a waffle shop, I came up with an idea when I put my feet up on a sofa. And we’ll do a “hairpin choreography” on the stage too, so please look forward to it.
Q. Popular girl groups such as Lovelyz and TWICE will make a comeback on the same day as you. What do you think of it?
Woozi: I don't think it's competition. The most important thing for us is to do our own characterful music. We just want to reach the public by showing our energy. It's an honor to make a comeback on the same day as Lovelyz and Twice, though.
Q. It seems that you've been on a roll since your debut. Do you agree?
Seungkwan: Frankly speaking, I feel that our fans are increasing constantly. However, we're still lacking in many things. I hope we will be able to live up to our fans' expectations.
Woozi: We get along with each other very well, and we always practice in an atmosphere of freedom. I think that's why we can be loved by our fans.
