On September 18, IU released her new song "Autumn Morning". Her new album "Flower Bookmark 2" will be released on September 22, but, yeah, the female singer released "Autumn Morning" in advance to celebrate her 9th anniversary and give a special present to her fans who have been supporting her for 9 years.
But that's not all. IU released the song at 7 a.m, while no other k-pop singers release their songs in the morning. Most of them release their songs at noon or at 6 p.m. Do you know why? Last February, the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism issued a guideline for online music sites, and all of the sites changed their ranking system. In the old days, Korean online music sites counted streams & downloads of a variety of songs 24 hours a day. So, k-pop singers released their songs at midnight because they could rank higher on online music charts by doing so. However, these days, Korean online music sites count streams & downloads of a variety of songs for only 6 hours a day. (from 12 p.m. to 6 p.m) They do such a thing to prevent excessive competition among k-pop singers. So, as I said, most of k-pop singers release their new songs at noon or at 6 p.m these days because it is the most effective way for them to rank higher on online music sites.
However, yeah, IU released her new song at 7 a.m. What do you think it means? Online music sites didn't count streams & downloads of the song from 7 a.m. to 12 p.m, which means IU has suffered a heavy loss. But, the good-natured female k-pop star didn't care about it at all, and she released the song in the morning just because she wanted to make her fans' morning a happy one.
As I said before, IU has been planning for a variety of events to entertain her fans, and by releasing "Autumn Morning" in the autumn morning, she proved again her great love for her fans.
