Q. "Kpop Star 6" will be the final season of the audition program. How do you feel?
Park Jin Young: It has been 6 years since the first season of the show was aired in 2011. As it is the final season, I feel something special about every moment. Through the program, artists and the public could communicate with each other. And personally, I could have my musical desire fulfilled by meeting talented young singers such as Ahn Ye Eun and Lee Jin Ah. I also could get a chance to promote myself.
Yang Hyun Suk: I have mixed feelings. I think there won't be a TV show like "Kpop Star." I could become popular among young people by appearing in the program. However, I know many fans of YG artists have complaints about me because it always takes too much time for the artists to release new albums. During appearing in "Kpop Star," I've felt pressure about it. So, after the end of the final season, I'll do my best as a music producer to satisfy the fans.
Yoo Hee Yeol: At first, I refused to appear in the program, but I was persuaded by the program's director. He said "Kpop Star" will give fair chances to everyone who wants to be a kpop star. I've learned a lot from Park Jin Young and Yang Hyun Suk, two of the most successful kpop producers, and I've also learned a lot from young and passionate singers such as Sam Kim, Kwon Jin Ah, Jung Seung Hwan and Lee Jin Ah.
Q. Some say "Kpop Star 6" is similar to "Produce 101."
Park Jin Young: I didn't watch all the episodes of "Produce 101," but I think "Kpop Star 6" is totally different from the program because the program was mainly about the girls' world. "Kpop Star 6" is about the trainees who dream of becoming a kpop star.
Yang Hyun Suk: The strong point of "Kpop Star 6" is that music producers appear in the program as judges. "Produce 101" had its experts too, but there was nobody like us. I think you don't need to worry about the similarity between "Kpop Star 6" and "Produce 101."
Park Jin Young: Yeah, the one who has dropped out of "Produce 101" participated in "Kpop Star 6" and she's doing really good. I think it's because we have different standards.
Q. Are you sure about the success of "Kpop Star 6"?
Yang Hyun Suk: I'm sure it will be the most interesting season because I'm really enjoying filming the program. Actually, "Kpop Star" has become less interesting since Yoo Hee Yeol joined, haha. There were so many participants who are good at playing guitar and piano. Yoo Hee Yeol loves such participants. However, many participants who can dance very well took part in "Kpop Star 6" and I'm so happy to see various talented potential stars. In "Kpop Star 6," Yoo Hee Yeol is taking care of those who are good at playing musical instruments, while Park Jin Young and I are taking care of would-be idols and dancers. I'm sure the viewers will enjoy the program.
Park Jin Young: I think Yang Hyun Suk became talkative, haha. It's true there are many participants in "Kpop Star 6" who dream of becoming a dance singer. Artist, dancer, and idol star are entirely different from each other. It's fun seeing a variety of participants.
Yoo Hee Yeol: I think Yang Hyun Suk and Park Jin Young are so excited now. As there are a variety of kinds of participants, we can judge in our field of expertise. It is very interesting. There are amazing participants who can dance really well. I guarantee it, as an experienced professional dancer.(laugh)
Q. Park Jin Young recently said he plays the lead role in "Kpop Star," while Yang Hyun Suk and Yoo Hee Yeol are just supporting actors. Yoo Hee Yeol, what do you think of it?
Yoo Hee Yeol: Well, it's true Park Jin Young receives a lot of attention from people. You know, people can't take their eyes off something strange, haha. Loot at his clothes. I thought he just came here after performing at Korean folk village. Anyway, it's true he's a leading actor. Yang Hyun Suk is a director and I'm a supporting actor. I mean, if Park Jin Young is Cha Tae Hyun of "Kpop Star 6," I'm Park Bo Gum of the program.(laugh)
Q. YG has been suspected of having relevance to "Choi Soon Sil Gate."(see this article) Yang Hyun Suk, do you want say something about it?
Yang Hyun Suk: A trot singer who has his name "Saje" has made an appearance at certain event as a member of Whirl Wind Soccer Club. But people mistook him for Psy. I don't understand why people want to believe such a rumor. YG's relevance to the political scandal is 0%. And it has been about 10 years since I met Cha Eun Taek. I've never met him since then. I think I just don't need to explain any more.
