On September 30, Ailee released her first ever full album and held a comeback showcase in Seoul. As you may know, she broke her toe when she filmed music video on September 7 and she had to sing her new songs in her chair at the showcase. However, the kpop diva caught eyes and ears of people by showing outstanding singing performance. Here's what Ailee talked about her first full album.
Q. It has been 3 years and 7 months since you debuted, and you finally released your first full album. How do you feel? Ailee: Actually, I feel burdened about my full album. I couldn't release my full album because I thought I was not ready. I wanted to put much effort into my full album, and much time has passed because I had to collect good songs. I want to show a vivid color of my music through my first ever full album. As always, I want to give the album ten out of ten.
Q. Your fans are worried because of your injury. Ailee: I had many great things to show, but it's sad that I can't show all of them because of my injury. I want to say sorry to my fans. However, I wanted to see my fans as soon as possible. That's why I made a comeback in spite of my injury.
Q. Then can't you show your dance performance on the stage? Ailee: To my regret I have to sing my new songs in my chair because I hurt my toe. I will try to express emotions through my eyes.
Q. It seems that you always show your strong character in your songs.
Ailee: The composers always give me songs about a strong woman. I think that kind of song reminds the composers of me. Actually, I like to sing some lovely songs too. I'm a teary woman.
Q. It's notable that you took part in writing 7 out of 10 tracks of the album.
Ailee: I focused on story lines when I wrote the lyrics of the songs. For example, 'Second Chance' is the song about the real story of my close friend's junior colleague. The song has a funny love story.
Q. You went on a severe diet before you released 'Don't Touch Me' last year. Wasn't there any side-effect from dieting too much?
Ailee: As I lost my belly fat, I was lacking in strength when I sang. That's why I has started to exercise even though I can't exercise these days because of my injury. I broke my toe only 3 weeks after I started exercise.
Q. So, what's your goal as a singer?
Ailee:I want to keep challenging myself. I will always try new genres of music. And I want to hear that I sing very well now and for ever.

"Do k-pop idols really sing live? It's not an easy question to answer because the answer to the question could be both yes and no. Well, I want to talk about details about k-pop idols' live performance on the stage. Have you heard about MR, AR, LMR, and LAR? If you get to know about these terms, you will be able to have a good understanding of k-pop idols' live performance." MR(Music Recorded) Basically, MR means instrumental accompaniment. Have you been to karaoke? MR is like karaoke music which doesn’t contain the sound of singer’s voice. However, there is no k-pop idol who uses such a clear MR, while all the k-pop idols’ MR contains sounds of their voices. Before performing their songs on k-pop chart shows, k-pop idols should make their MR, and the way how they make MR is to decrease the sound volume of their voices in original music, while keeping the sound volume of instrumental accompaniment as it is. So, to k-pop idols, singing to MR doesn’t j...
1988–2009: Early life and debut G-Dragon began his career at age five as part of the group Little Roo Ra. After releasing a Christmas album, the group's contract was terminated by their record company, which came as a shock to G-Dragon. After then, he was scouted by SM Entertainment while on a ski trip with his family. He was a trainee under the record label for five years, specializing in dance before he left, unclear about what he wanted to do. In third grade, G-Dragon was introduced to the American rap group Wu-Tang Clan by a friend. Inspired by their music, he developed an interest in rapping and began taking classes. Under People Crew's tutelage, he participated in the release of the Korean hip-hop album Flex in 2001, becoming the youngest Korean rapper at just 13 years old. Although he wrote his own lyrics, he admitted that his English was weak and the story behind the lyrics was just another typical "I'm young, but I'm the best." Additionall...
Through YG entertainment's special hip hop project, Big Bang's G-Dragon and Taeyang formed a new sub unit GD X TAEYANG and released a single “Good Boy” in 2014. GD took part in writing the song as always, while the song has gained great popularity at home and abroad. After releasing the single, GD X TAEYANG gave an interview to various Korean media outlets and talked about their new album, friendship, and BIGBANG. The two friends GD and Taeyang were both born in 1988, and 14 years ago, they joined YG entertainment as trainees. And they’ve went through rigorous training together for 6 years to make a debut as members of BIGBANG. So, of course, they’ve been good friends both in joy and in sorrow for a long time and know each other better than anyone. About GD, Taeyang said as follows. "Actually, there are many differences between us. He has something I do not have, and I have something he does not have. For example, we have totally different home surroundings. I ha...
In 2017, Big Hit Entertainment earned a total of 92 billion won (about 81 million USD). Big Hit's earning was less than that of SM (216 billion won), YG (264 billion won) and JYP (96 billion won), but you know, Big Hit, which was a very small company, has achieved remarkable growth. And what's most notable about Big Hit's growth is that the k-pop agency's operating profit to sales ratio (35%) was much higher than that of the big 3 k-pop agencies (SM: 12%, YG: 10%, JYP: 18%), which means Big Hit's business was very profitable. Basically, it is because of two reasons. First, Big Hit doesn't have as many musicians as the other 3 k-pop agencies, which means Big Hit doesn't need to invest as much money as them. Second, yeah, BTS alone earns so much money. Big Hit is receiving the most attention from investors. As you may know, Big Hit is preparing for a stock exchange listing. And investors love companies whose operating profit to sales ratio is high becau...
