I think many of you may know well about Kpop's '94 line'. Who are they? Yes, they are popular Kpop idol stars who were born in 1994 such as Miss A's Suzy, f(x)'s Sulli and Krystal, and Kara's former member Kang Jiyoung. The girls, who show off heir close friendship even offstage, are the representative female stars who are leading Kpop industry.
However, recently, Kpop world's new 94 line members, who are also born in 1994 but have been regarded as being less popular than the original 94 line members, are performing brilliant job, catching eyes of people. They are Girl's Day's Hyeri, Kara's Youngji, and Red Velvet's Seulgi.
Girl's Day's Hyeri
On MBC's 'A Real Man', which is about popular stars who virtually joined army, Hyeri caught eyes of people by showing off her charm. Have you watched her 'Aegyo Video'? Well, all the people completely fell for her at her coquettish charm.
Hyeri has become the most wanted and sought after young Kpop star in show business, while her towering success has attracted lucrative advertising deals. She gets more than 95,000 dollars per advertisement appearance, and it is expected that she will be the next Suzy, a top female Kpop idol star who earns over 9.5 million dollars for a year.
Hyeri is absolutely contributing to the soaring popularity of Girl's Day. The girl group, who made big hits with its songs such as 'Expect' and 'Something', is continuing to make rapid strides.
Kara's Youngji
Another member of Kpop world's new 94 line is Kara's Youngji. The female idol, who became Kara's member by auditioning MBC Music's 'Kara Project - The Beginning' aired last July, is now distinguishing herself from other young Kpop idols.
Actually, Youngji heard many significant concerns voiced by people because it was uncertain if she could fill the vacancy of Nicole and Kang Jiyoung, who have left Kara in early 2014. However, by appearing on SBS' 'Roommate 2', she succeeded in removing people's concerns.
Youngji always tried to be affectionate towards her big senior Bae Jongok, a famous Korean actress who debuted in 1985, and covered Girls' Generation's 'The Boys' in front of the girl group's Yoona and Sunny, while Yoona said it's Daebak(gorgeous).
Youngji, who usually laughs her head off, never tries to play innocent around people. She is certainly adding vitamin to 8th-year Kpop idol group Kara.
Red Velvet's Seulgi
Sm entertainment's rookie girl group Red Velvet debuted last August. It has been about 5 years since the company's girl group f(x) debuted in 2009, and every move of the new girl group drew people's attention.
Well, among the 4 members of Red Velvet, Seulgi, who was also born in 1994, received great attention from people even before she debuted. As you may know, Super Junior's Kyuhyun commented about her on MBC's 'Radio Star', saying, "Seulgi is charming. Hey, Seulgi, keep up the good work. I'll cheer for you. By the way, don't be too famous."
Through her debut song 'Happiness', Seulgi showed off her cute charm, leaving a favorable impression on people. And in October, she successfully completed her transformation by showing off her mature charm through Red Velvet's new song 'Be Natural'.
Seulgi is a key person to take over great popularity of her senior idol stars such as Girls' Generation and f(x).
Big Bang is back with its new songs 'LOSER' and 'BAE BAE'. On May 4, I met the 5 members and interviewed them. As it has been too long since the 5 members all together were interviewed by Korean journalists, it seemed that they had much to say. Let's see what they talked about their music, love, and life. Big Bang's Music Q. You guys said you will release new singles on the first day of every month. It sounds like an uncommon project. Taeyang: Just a month before, we worked really hard to decide if we will release singles or a full album. Actually, we have highly satisfactory new songs and we wanted to release a full album which contains all of them. However, we also wanted to film music videos for all of the songs and that’s why we decided to release singles every month. Q. What kind of songs will you release from next month? Drop me a hint. Taeyang: What I want to say is that all of the songs are different. We will show you something very different e...

In 2014, EXO's Chinese member Kris filed a lawsuit against SM entertainment, insisting that his exclusive contract with the agency should be nullified. And he finally left the agency, while another Chinese EXO member Luhan also filed a lawsuit against SM in the year. And in 2015, Tao decided to leave the agency too. After filing lawsuits, they said “SM didn't respect us at all. SM has treated us like subjects of control and determined our schedules unilaterally. And we had economic difficulties despite much work.” Well, I think many of k-pop fans may consider unfair contract between SM and the Chinese members as the main reason why the idol singers filed lawsuits. You know, it was not the first time that SM’s idol singer filed a lawsuit against the agency. The former TVXQ members Kim Junsu, Park Yoochun and Kim Jaejoong had been in a legal battle with SM for about 3 years, while Hangeng of Super Junior has also filed a lawsuit against SM, insisting that his contract wit...
"Do k-pop idols really sing live? It's not an easy question to answer because the answer to the question could be both yes and no. Well, I want to talk about details about k-pop idols' live performance on the stage. Have you heard about MR, AR, LMR, and LAR? If you get to know about these terms, you will be able to have a good understanding of k-pop idols' live performance." MR(Music Recorded) Basically, MR means instrumental accompaniment. Have you been to karaoke? MR is like karaoke music which doesn’t contain the sound of singer’s voice. However, there is no k-pop idol who uses such a clear MR, while all the k-pop idols’ MR contains sounds of their voices. Before performing their songs on k-pop chart shows, k-pop idols should make their MR, and the way how they make MR is to decrease the sound volume of their voices in original music, while keeping the sound volume of instrumental accompaniment as it is. So, to k-pop idols, singing to MR doesn’t j...
Q. You formed your new unit Triple H with E'Dawn and Hui. How do you feel? Hyuna: I feel great to form a new unit with the Pentagon members, who are the future of Cube Entertainment. Some people say Cube uses me to promote them, but I have a lot to learn from them too. I was very nervous when I was preparing for Triple H's first album. Q. What's your relationship with the two young members? Hyuna: They might feel uncomfortable being with me, but we try to take care of each other. I think we're still trying to find common ground. Q. You appeared on Music Core and Inkigayo last week. Were you satisfied with your performance? Hyuna: Even though I appeared on only two music chart shows because music chart shows these days are not that popular, I love my costume with with a floral pattern. And it's fun to wink too. I didn't know I'm that much cute, haha. Q. It's notable that you acted in Triple H's music video. Hyuna: It's meaningful t...
