7 Reasons Why Kpop Idols Leave Their Groups

Image
1. Financial Difficulty of Their Companies It costs a fabulous sum of money for k-pop agencies to produce idol groups. The agencies usually invest hundreds of millions of won into training idols and have to retrieve the investment after their idols' debut. However, only a few of the idols win success and make actual profits. Many of idols suffer from the hardships of life because they do not have steady income. If an idol group can't make profits for years and its agency can't retrieve its investment, the group has to be disbanded, of course. So, before their groups are disbanded, some of the idols make their minds to leave the groups. 2. Over-Bearing Intervention of Their Parents Most of k-pop idols are in their late teens or early 20s, which means they're not old enough and still need to be looked after by their parents. However, some of idols' parents are too enthusiastic about their sons and daughters' careers. And their over-bearing intervention ...

Will all the Chinese idols leave SM? The story doesn't apply to f(x)'s Victoria

Image
It seems that another EXO member could leave the team. Actually, there has been a sign of it as I mentioned in this article . China's SINA recently released its interview with Tao' father. According to the report, the idol star's father said Tao ultimately agreed to leave, stating, "Since his debut, Tao has appeared on many programs that held a risk to harm his health. My heart hurt seeing that the agency didn't properly take care of my son's injuries each time." To this, SM entertainment stated "We have been in the process of consistently discussing with Tao and his father regarding the idol's activities in China. We're so sorry about the father's comments. Despite that, we will try to strike a happy balance with Tao and his father through dialogues." As you know, EXO's Kris and Luhan have already left the team, and if Tao leaves EXO, Lay will be the only Chinese member left in the very popular kpop idol group.  ...

SM puts brakes on Kris, Luhan and Tao’s activities in China

Image
After Kris, Luhan and Tao left EXO, SM has filed a total of 23 lawsuits against Chinese sponsors who helped the three members’ activities in China. SM is insisting that the Chinese members are continuing to do their illegal entertainment activities in the country because a legal battle between the agency and the three members hasn’t ended yet and it means they still belong to the agency. Well, check out what SM talked about its lawsuit against the three members first. SM thinks their behavior was absolutely disgraceful. “Kris, Luhan and Tao filed lawsuits through same attorney in Korea. And even before the case went to trial, they appeared in various movie, commercial films and TV shows in China. They used their popularity as EXO members to be active as entertainers in the country, and by doing so, they infringed upon the interests of EXO and SM. And they also caused our affiliated companies considerable economic damage. Until the court decision is reached, their exclusive contr...

"Luhan Shock" Sends Shock Waves Throughout the Kpop World

Image
EXO's Luhan filed a lawsuit against SM entertainment, demanding that his exclusive contract be nullified. As you know, it's not the first time that EXO member filed a lawsuit against the company. Last May, Kris brought in a lawsuit and left the group.  Actually, one of my blog visitors recently asked me about the rumor that Luhan will leave EXO. At that time, I answered "It is no more than an online rumor" because I believed that SM will succeed in controlling the situation. Luhan didn't take part in EXO's exclusive concert held in Thailand in September and SMTOWN's concert held in Tokyo, Japan in October, for reason of health. SM realized how serious the situation was, while the company has already met a similar problem months ago. However, as a result, Luhan's relationship with "others" was more solid than his relationship with SM. Sorry for my wrong prediction. The Reason Why Luhan Decided to Leave EXO Luhan and Kris filed the ...

What Happened At EXO's First Ever Exclusive Concert Without Kris

Image
From May 23-25, EXO held its first ever exclusive concert at the Olympic Park Gymnastics Stadium. The group drew a total of 42,000 fans and electrified them by performing its hits such as 'MAMA', 'Wolf', 'Growl' and 'Overdose'. Well, as you know, only 11 members, except for Kris who has filed a lawsuit against SM entertainment, demanding that his exclusive contract be nullified, took part in the concert. The 11 members talked candidly about how they think about the case. Here's what happened at EXO's concert. Super Junior's Shindong hosted a press conference that was held just before the concert. He was witty and handled the atmosphere with wonderful skill as a veteran MC. Check out the EXO members' comments about Kris. Chanyeol: At first, I was thoroughly confused and worried if we can't show perfect performance. However, we talked with each other and practiced a lot. We worked together in unanimity and finally could m...

The real reason why EXO’s Kris, Luhan and Tao left SM

Image
In 2014, EXO's Chinese member Kris filed a lawsuit against SM entertainment, insisting that his exclusive contract with the agency should be nullified. And he finally left the agency, while another Chinese EXO member Luhan also filed a lawsuit against SM in the year. And in 2015, Tao decided to leave the agency too. After filing lawsuits, they said “SM didn't respect us at all. SM has treated us like subjects of control and determined our schedules unilaterally. And we had economic difficulties despite much work.” Well, I think many of k-pop fans may consider unfair contract between SM and the Chinese members as the main reason why the idol singers filed lawsuits. You know, it was not the first time that SM’s idol singer filed a lawsuit against the agency. The former TVXQ members Kim Junsu, Park Yoochun and Kim Jaejoong had been in a legal battle with SM for about 3 years, while Hangeng of Super Junior has also filed a lawsuit against SM, insisting that his contract wit...
