No doubt, BoA is the most successful k-pop female singer. The k-pop queen, who made her debut at the early age of 15, has achieved so many things at home and abroad. She left a significant mark in the k-pop history, setting remarkable records. She is the first k-pop singer to sell more than one million albums in Japan, and she is the first k-pop singer to top Japan's Oricon Chart.
The queen is back. BoA released her 9th full album "Woman" on October 24, 2018. She held a showcase event on the day and talked about her new album. Well, she told reporters many things about the album, but what's most impressive was that she gave a special message for women around the world.
The title track of BoA's new album is titled "Woman", and you might think she just did it to promote the song, of course, but her message was very sincere and honest. As a woman who has achieved huge success, she tried to encourage women around the world.
I know "Woman" could be a controversial word. And it was really hard to write and sing the song all by myself. However, I've been of the view that human being can coexist because men and women are equal. "Woman" is a song about the confident woman, and as a woman, I wanted to raise my self-esteem through the song. I tried to hypnotize myself. You know, some women become increasingly lacking in confidence about themselves as they grow older, and I wanted to deliver the message that everyone can be a wonderful woman with high self-esteem by seeking for their own beauty. You don't need to complain about your weakness. And you don't need to be someone else. You have many good qualities too, and you can develop yourself.
Great message, huh? She said "Woman" could be a controversial word because excessive conflict between young men and women is one of the major social problems in Korea now.
Well, at the showcase event, BoA looked definitely different from other k-pop singers who usually just try to promote their new albums through their comeback events. BoA, who once was just a teenage k-pop singer, showed great maturity as a mature woman and singer.
