How kpop idols lose weight


K-pop trainees check their weight every day, and the weight is reported to their company. They lose weight through diet plus exercise. Many of them, especially female trainees, diet by eating only fruits and vegetables. They can't even dream of high-calorie foods such as chicken and pizza. It's really agonizing and psychologically destructive, but they have to endure it if they want to be famous k-pop stars.

Their efforts to lose weight are just beyond ordinary people's imagination. If they are disqualified because of their overweight, they fall behind in the competition. Actually, k-pop idols look much more skinny than their pictures. For example, Hyuna, who looks voluptuous on TV, is really skinny. (I think her legs are thinner than my arms) Since things on TV look bigger than in person, the idols have to be extremely skinny.


So, let’s see what k-pop idols do to maintain their good looks.

"I was so gluttonous in the old days. I ate ramen and two bowls of rice at once. However, I had to lose weight. So, one day, I stuffed my mouth with chicken and spat it out right away. I just had a taste of it because I had craving for chicken but I had to diet". - Dasom

Yeah, this is exactly what k-pop female idols do to maintain their nice figures.

Have you heard about one-meal-a-day? Some of k-pop idols have only one meal a day. Sistar's Soyou, Secret's Jeon Hyosung, Brown Eyed Girls' Gain and more have had only one meal a day to maintain their nice figures. And some of the other idols try to eat several small meals throughout the day. Here's IU's menu. An apple, two sweet potatoes and a cup of protein drink. IU eats these foods when she’s on the diet. Of course, IU combines both exercise and diet in order to lose weight. She does a high-energy workout such as walking up stairs and push-ups.

9Muses’ Kyungri uses a small paper cup to lose her weight. Before eating meals, she takes some food on her paper cup because it makes her eat like birds. Yes, there is a good reason for her sexy figure.

“When I filmed music video of 'Because I'm the best', I tried to gain weight because I wanted show powerful dance performance. However, on the screen, I didn't look so pretty and I started a diet. I went to the gym every day despite my hectic schedule. I combined aerobic exercise and work with weights, and I lost 3 kg in the last one and a half months. Actually, I love eating and I put on weight easily. However, I think it's common courtesy for me to stay slim because I'm an entertainer”.

Nara
“I weighed much when I debuted, and I've tried really really hard. Actually, I was afraid to work out with somebody else because I had to expose an inferiority complex about my looks. That's why I began to be on a diet by myself. At first, I didn't know anything about diet and surfed the Internet to get some information. What I found was a no-white-food diet. So, I began to avoid white foods, such as white bread, white rice, and sugar. After then, I had an apple in the morning and went to the gym every day. I worked out on the treadmill, jumped rope and exercised my arm with a plastic bottle filled with water. These days, I'm trying to cut down my intake of carbohydrates. I eat half a bowl of rice and do not eat soup. And no matter how busy I am, I do exercise before I go to bed”.
