Q. You made a comeback with your second full album "Perfect Velvet". How do you feel?
Irene: Our previous song "Red Flavor" was loved by so many people, and it's true we feel pressured to do great this time too. Like the title of our new album suggests, we aimed at perfection while preparing for our comeback.
Yeri: We tried to include as many genres of music as possible in our album.
Q. You've been on a roll since you debuted. Do you think it mean SM succeeded in making the generational shift of its girl groups?
Yeri: There still are our senior girl groups such as Girls' Generation. It's honor to hear that we lead the new generation, but I don't think we can fully replace our senior girl groups. We just want to be recognized as a characteristic girl group.
Q. So, "Perfect Velvet" is an album of "Velvet concept". Tell me about your new album and the title track.
Yeri: We used to clearly separate "Red concept" and "Velvet concept", but we don't any more.
Joy: Yeah, people may think our songs of "Velvet concept" should be slow and calm just like "One of these nights", but our new title song "Peek-A-Boo" is a song based on both "Red concept" and "Velvet concept". That's why our new album is titled "Perfect Velvet". I think "Peek-A-Boo" shows our process of growth.
Irene: I think we could grow quickly because we've tried both "Red concept" and "Velvet concept". Through our new album, we wanted to be more perfect.
Wendy: I think we've been upgraded.
Seulgi: "Peek-A-Boo" is a very catchy song, and both "Red concept" and "Velvet concept" are in it.
Q. What did Lee Soo Man talk about your new album?
Yeri: We met him at our Halloween party, he told us a lot of good things to cheer us up.
Q. What did you care about the most while preparing for your comeback?
Joy: We've been very strict in our self-discipline because we wanted to be a more mature team. We tried many things through our new album including many new singing styles.
Q. Yeri, you're 19 years old. How do you think about going to a college?
Yeri: Our team is my priority. I'll focus on my activities as a member of Red Velvet, and I'll study later if I have a chance.
Q. What's your goal?
Seugi: We've released a total of 3 albums in 2017, and I think we grew up so much this year. We're loved by so many fans, and I know we need to be more responsible. I hope we will visit various countries and be loved by many more people all over the world in 2018.
