The reason why 2PM's Taecyeon is winning the praise of many Korean people

Sad news for 2PM's fans. 2PM's Taecyeon joined the army on September 4. The idol star will be trained at the recruit training center of white horse unit for 6 weeks and will do his military service for about two years. By the way, he is now winning the praise of many Korean people. Do you know why?

You know, in Korea, all able-bodied men over 19 are required to serve in the military for 20 months. The constitution clearly states that every Korean citizen has the right, as well as the obligation, to serve in the military without any discrimination. Famous k-pop stars are no exception. However, 20-month-long compulsory military service is an unavoidable source of trouble for Korea's young men since they must suspend their studies in colleges or quit jobs at the peak of their youth. Especially, for k-pop stars, who tend to have short careers, compulsory military service is exactly what they want to avoid.

However, Taecyeon, who is well known for his great personality readily joined the army. Especially, he gave up his permanent U.S. residency to receive an examination for active-service in the military. If he hadn't given up his permanent U.S. residency, he wouldn't need to join the army. In addition, he didn't need to enlist in the army because he had a herniated disk, but he underwent an operation to be judged fit for military service. It's very rare for Korean young people to do such a thing.

That's not all. before joining the army, most of k-pop idols mention a lot about their enlistments and try to let many people know about their enlistments. Well, I can understand them because 2 years is not a short period, and they can't be active as idols for the period. However, Taecyeon did all the things very quietly. His family and 2PM members saw him off at the recruit training center, but Korean media outlets could know about it hours later. Taecyeon didn't give notice beforehand because he took his enlistment as a matter of course, and he didn't want to cause harm to the other new recruits.

Believe me. There are not many k-pop idols who can do what Taecyeon did. He is one of the most faithful and polite k-pop idols, and that's why I like him. I wish he will come back safely.
