TWICE made an official debut in Japan by releasing its first Japanese album "#TWICE" in the country on June 28. Well, the result is very successful. The album sold over 100,000 copies within just 4 days, while TWICE is maintaining no.2 position on Oricon's daily album chart. The only singer who has a higher record of album sales for the period is Kanjani8, a very popular Japanese boy group.
That's not all. On June 30, TWICE appeared on "Music Station", which is the most popular music show in Japan. TWICE became the first k-pop girl group who appeared on "Music Station" since Girls' Generation made an appearance on the program in 2012. It's very unusual for the program to invite a rookie girl group.
In addition, TWICE succeeded in putting the ad of its hit "TT" on the billboard of Tokyo Tower. TWICE is the first ever k-pop idol group who proceeds a joint promotion with Tokyo Tower, one of the iconic buildings in Tokyo.
And it's also notable that TWICE held its debut showcase at the Tokyo Metropolitan Gymnasium which can accommodate 10,000 audiences, while TWICE has been chosen as a model for Shibuya 109's summer sale campaign too. Shybuya 109 is a large shopping mall, and large billboards featuring the 9 members appeared in the main street of Tokyo.
Many people in the k-pop industry are now expecting TWICE to make a big splash in the Japanese music market just like Kara and Girls' Generation did. The girl group's "TT dance" is now in vogue among young Japanese people. For now, yeah, there is a good chance that TWICE will dominate the Japanese music market for some reasons.
First, the members are very cute and lovely just like Kara and Girls' Generation's members were. Second, their songs are very catchy and easy to sing along to just like Kara and Girls' Generation's songs are. But that's not all. It could be the biggest benefit of TWICE that the girl group has Japanese members. You know, TWICE has 3 Japanese members, Momo, Sana and Mina, and that's one reason why the girl group is receiving a great deal of attention from Japanese people.

"Do k-pop idols really sing live? It's not an easy question to answer because the answer to the question could be both yes and no. Well, I want to talk about details about k-pop idols' live performance on the stage. Have you heard about MR, AR, LMR, and LAR? If you get to know about these terms, you will be able to have a good understanding of k-pop idols' live performance." MR(Music Recorded) Basically, MR means instrumental accompaniment. Have you been to karaoke? MR is like karaoke music which doesn’t contain the sound of singer’s voice. However, there is no k-pop idol who uses such a clear MR, while all the k-pop idols’ MR contains sounds of their voices. Before performing their songs on k-pop chart shows, k-pop idols should make their MR, and the way how they make MR is to decrease the sound volume of their voices in original music, while keeping the sound volume of instrumental accompaniment as it is. So, to k-pop idols, singing to MR doesn’t j...
Have you ever been curious about k-pop idols' microphones? Unless you are a professional, it’s difficult to know the details about the microphones. However, there’s a very simple way to make a guess at what kind of microphone your favorite idol star uses. Well, the way is to classify the microphones by their colors. Colors of microphones do not always mean everything, but like I said, you can at least make a guess at what kind of microphones those are. Flesh-Colored Microphone You might see the flesh-colored microphones frequently in various k-pop chart shows. Those are the basic microphones offered by the broadcasting company. People in the k-pop world usually call it "Band-Aid." The microphone is cheap, and it doesn't perform well. However, it doesn't matter because not a few incompetent idols depend on their AR and just pretend to sing live. Black Microphone The black microphone is not offered by the broadcasting company. If an idol group's...
1988–2009: Early life and debut G-Dragon began his career at age five as part of the group Little Roo Ra. After releasing a Christmas album, the group's contract was terminated by their record company, which came as a shock to G-Dragon. After then, he was scouted by SM Entertainment while on a ski trip with his family. He was a trainee under the record label for five years, specializing in dance before he left, unclear about what he wanted to do. In third grade, G-Dragon was introduced to the American rap group Wu-Tang Clan by a friend. Inspired by their music, he developed an interest in rapping and began taking classes. Under People Crew's tutelage, he participated in the release of the Korean hip-hop album Flex in 2001, becoming the youngest Korean rapper at just 13 years old. Although he wrote his own lyrics, he admitted that his English was weak and the story behind the lyrics was just another typical "I'm young, but I'm the best." Additionall...
