BTS' J-Hope is creating a sensation with his first ever mixtape that was released on March 2, 2018. The idol star's mixtape entered Billboard 200 at no.63, which is the best record in the k-pop history. BoA, one of the most popular and influential female k-pop stars had entered the chart at no.127 in 2009, and other talented solo k-pop artists such as Taeyang, Jonghyun and G-Dragon had entered the chart too, but none of them could enter the top 100.
That's not all. J-Hope became the second k-pop solo artist who has entered Billboard's Artist 100 chart. He entered the chart at no.97, and before his appearance on the chart, PSY was the only k-pop solo artist who had entered the chart.
However, the reason why the success of J-Hope's mixtape is very remarkable is not just because he achieved many things on the Billboard chart.
In his mixtape, J-Hope expresses his true self. Despite BTS' huge success and temptations of the world, he tries to uphold his own standard of life. His desires for aberration should be a "Daydream" for him because he is an idol star who is responsible for what he does. However, at the same time, the young k-pop star, who always gives an energy boost to the other BTS members in real life, emits his energy and shows his positive attitude about life in his first ever mixtape.
What's more impressive about the mixtape is that J-Hope and Big Hit entertainment have invested so much into it even though it is not a regular album. They can't earn much money with it because music fans don't have to pay to listen to it, but by collaborating with competent musicians who have taken part in BTS' regular albums, they did their best to make better mixtape. That's why all the tracks included in the mixtape are high quality and elaborate.
You know, since BTS is not the idol group of big 3 k-pop agencies, many people were surprised by the team's great success. And it seems there still are many people who don't understand why the team and Big Hit Entertainment could achieve such a success. However, through his solo mixtape, J-Hope certainly showed why they could become so successful. The idol star and his team mates, who have their own philosophy of life and great passion for music, are competent musicians and deserve huge popularity.
"Do k-pop idols really sing live? It's not an easy question to answer because the answer to the question could be both yes and no. Well, I want to talk about details about k-pop idols' live performance on the stage. Have you heard about MR, AR, LMR, and LAR? If you get to know about these terms, you will be able to have a good understanding of k-pop idols' live performance." MR(Music Recorded) Basically, MR means instrumental accompaniment. Have you been to karaoke? MR is like karaoke music which doesn’t contain the sound of singer’s voice. However, there is no k-pop idol who uses such a clear MR, while all the k-pop idols’ MR contains sounds of their voices. Before performing their songs on k-pop chart shows, k-pop idols should make their MR, and the way how they make MR is to decrease the sound volume of their voices in original music, while keeping the sound volume of instrumental accompaniment as it is. So, to k-pop idols, singing to MR doesn’t j...

As you know, Kpop girl group members look so innocent and cute. We usually describe them as 'fairy'. Then, how about their feet? It seems that they have tiny lovely feet. Well, what do you think? Have you ever been curious about k-pop idols' microphones? Unless you are a professional, it’s difficult to know the details about the microphones. However, there’s a very simple way to make a guess at what kind of microphone your favorite idol star uses. Well, the way is to classify the microphones by their colors. Colors of microphones do not always mean everything, but like I said, you can at least make a guess at what kind of microphones those are. Flesh-Colored Microphone You might see the flesh-colored microphones frequently in various k-pop chart shows. Those are the basic microphones offered by the broadcasting company. People in the k-pop world usually call it "Band-Aid." The microphone is cheap, and it doesn't perform well. However, it doesn't matter because not a few incompetent idols depend on their AR and just pretend to sing live. Black Microphone The black microphone is not offered by the broadcasting company. If an idol group's...
1988–2009: Early life and debut G-Dragon began his career at age five as part of the group Little Roo Ra. After releasing a Christmas album, the group's contract was terminated by their record company, which came as a shock to G-Dragon. After then, he was scouted by SM Entertainment while on a ski trip with his family. He was a trainee under the record label for five years, specializing in dance before he left, unclear about what he wanted to do. In third grade, G-Dragon was introduced to the American rap group Wu-Tang Clan by a friend. Inspired by their music, he developed an interest in rapping and began taking classes. Under People Crew's tutelage, he participated in the release of the Korean hip-hop album Flex in 2001, becoming the youngest Korean rapper at just 13 years old. Although he wrote his own lyrics, he admitted that his English was weak and the story behind the lyrics was just another typical "I'm young, but I'm the best." Additionall...
