On July 19, KARD, a new k-pop group produced by DSP media held its debut showcase in Seoul. You know, KARD is a mixed-sex group which is comprised of 4 members, J.Seph, B.M, Somin and Jiwoo, and the group received great attention from global fans even before its official debut. KARD has already released its song such as "Oh NANA", "Don't Recall" and "Rumor", while the group also held its concerts in various countries including the United States, Canada, Mexico and Brazil.
So, check out what the KARD members talked about their official debut.
Q. Congratulate on your debut. You received great attention from global fans even before your official debut, by the way. How do you feel?
A. We're very thankful for our fans' great interest and love. We'll do our best in return for their love, and we'll try to show our own musical characteristics instead of trying to get good results on music charts.
Q. What do you think is the reason for your great popularity in foreign countries?
A. We think it's because of three reasons. First, our songs are trendy. Second, our choreography is polished. Third, we have great members.
Q. There are many boy groups and girls groups who gain great popularity in the k-pop world these days, but there is no mixed-sex group who distinguishes itself in the industry.
A. Well, it's true we were worried about it, but we're confident of success because we have great members and our songs are great. We can do what boy groups do, and we can do what girl groups do too.
Q. Who is your role model?
A. We don't have our role model. We just want to show our originality.
Q. You're a mixed-sex group, and I wonder if you're romantically interested in each other.
A. No, never. We're in a business relationship, haha.
Q. Tell me about your title track "Hola Hola".
A. When we visited Brasil, we learned two Spanish words. Those were "Hola" and "Obrigado". "Hola" means "Hello", and we titled our debut album "Hola Hola" because it's our first time to release our official album and we wanted to say hello to k-pop fans. "Hola Hola" is a great song to listen to when you drive down the highway at full speed.
Q. What's your goal?
A. We're very excited now, and we'll try to show our own musical characteristics even though there are so many respectable k-pop singers who will make a comeback soon. And we hope we can win Rookie of the Year award at the end-of-year music awards.
