Reason why Girls' Generation releases its digital and physical albums on different days


Girls' Generation is coming back. The girl group will release its 6th full album on various online music sites on August 4. Girls' Generation releases the album to celebrate its 10th anniversary, and the album is drawing lots of attention from k-pop fans. By the way, it's notable that Girls' Generation doesn't release its physical album on August 4. The physical album will be released on August 7, three days after the release of digital album. You know, it's unusual for a k-pop idol group to release its digital and physical albums on different days. Then why do you think Girls' Generation decided to release its digital and physical albums on different days?


August 5 is the exact date of Girls' Generation's 10th anniversary, and the girl group originally planned to release its new album on the day. You know, the girl group will hold its 10th anniversary fan meeting event on the day, and Girls' Generation members planned to celebrate their 10th anniversary by singing their new songs in front of their fans, who have been supporting them for 10 years.

But, the problem is that August 5 is Saturday. K-pop idols do not usually release their new songs on the weekend because they can't draw much attention from the general public.

So, after a discussion, Girls' Generation members decided to release their new album one day before holding its 10th anniversary fan meeting, while it was not an option for them to release the album after the fan meeting because they hoped that their fans would listen to their new songs before the event.


After then, Girls' Generation members thought of releasing their digital and physical albums on the same day, but they changed their mind because their new album is their 10th anniversary album and they wanted to give a special present to their fans.

According to the SM official, Girls' Generation members are very excited about their 10th anniversary, but what's most important to them is that they should please their fans, who have been supporting them for a long time. They know they could become the most popular k-pop girl group thanks to their enthusiastic fans, and they didn't want to finish up all the things on one day because they wanted to make their fans happier.

Think about it. On August 4, fans can enjoy Girls' Generation's new songs, and on August 5, they can meet with Girls' Generation's members by attending the girl group's 10th anniversary fan meeting. And on August 7, they can purchase the girl group's brand new physical album.

Meanwhile, Girls' Generation's 6th full album "Holiday Night" has a total of 10 tracks including double title tracks "All Night" and "Holiday", while it's notable that Seohyun took part in writing the lyrics of "Holiday".
