Q. You released your first ever solo album. How do you feel?
Jennie: You know, all the other BLACKPINK members have been preparing for their solo albums too. I feel as if we're starting all over again. Through my solo album, I want to show my own charm.
Q. Don't you feel pressured?
Jennie: Of course, I feel pressured because I'm the first one, but I want to enjoy all the things. And I'm thankful that I can rely on the other members. When I was a trainee, I even couldn't imagine making a debut as a solo singer. You know, I've spent so much time in practicing singing and dancing, and I want to prove that the time I spent is not a lost time.
Q. So what do you think is the difference between BLACKPINK's album and your solo album?
Jennie: Both Jennie of BLACKPINK and solo singer Jennie are myself. I can't say there's a difference between them. However, I sang the entire song as a solo singer. I'm not sure I did it really good, but I did all the things I wanted to do. And when we worked on BLACKPINK's album, Teddy tried to include every member's personality in it. But while working on my solo album, he tried to care much more about me.
Q. Tell me about your song "Solo".
Jennie: Many females try to fit themselves into their lovers. However, they sometimes feel deeply wounded. So the song carries the message that we should find our true selves.
Q. You look so charismatic and sexy on the stage. What is your real personality like?
Jennie: Actually, I'm very shy and quiet. Many people say I'm just like a little girl in real life.
Q. What did BLACKPINK members talk about your solo debut?
Jennie: They tried to cheer me up. Their smile helped loosen me up.
Q. What did Yang Hyunsuk talk about your solo debut then?
Jennie: He cared so much about my solo debut. He checked every detail, and he tried to encourage me, saying I can do it. He said "Take everyone down".
Q. BIGBANG's Seungri said you're like female G-Dragon.
Jennie: It's an honor to just be compared with G-Dragon. I don't want to deny it, and I'm just so thankful. I'll try my best to be his successor, and of course, the title "female G-Dragon" is really awesome, I think.
Q. What's your goal as a solo singer?
Jennie: It's my first time to release my solo album, and I don't want to stick to the rankings on the music charts. I hope many people will become curious about me. Of course, it's lie to say that I never care about the rankings, but I want to enjoy all the things.
"Do k-pop idols really sing live? It's not an easy question to answer because the answer to the question could be both yes and no. Well, I want to talk about details about k-pop idols' live performance on the stage. Have you heard about MR, AR, LMR, and LAR? If you get to know about these terms, you will be able to have a good understanding of k-pop idols' live performance." MR(Music Recorded) Basically, MR means instrumental accompaniment. Have you been to karaoke? MR is like karaoke music which doesn’t contain the sound of singer’s voice. However, there is no k-pop idol who uses such a clear MR, while all the k-pop idols’ MR contains sounds of their voices. Before performing their songs on k-pop chart shows, k-pop idols should make their MR, and the way how they make MR is to decrease the sound volume of their voices in original music, while keeping the sound volume of instrumental accompaniment as it is. So, to k-pop idols, singing to MR doesn’t j...

When he writes songs, he hears a variety of opinions from BIGBANG members, and he shares his idea with Teddy, a famous music producer of YG Entertainment to make better music. But you can say G-Dragon plays the largest role in writing BIGBANG’s songs because he usually creates main melodies of the songs. And he plays a huge role in BIGBANG’s concerts too. 1988–2009: Early life and debut G-Dragon began his career at age five as part of the group Little Roo Ra. After releasing a Christmas album, the group's contract was terminated by their record company, which came as a shock to G-Dragon. After then, he was scouted by SM Entertainment while on a ski trip with his family. He was a trainee under the record label for five years, specializing in dance before he left, unclear about what he wanted to do. In third grade, G-Dragon was introduced to the American rap group Wu-Tang Clan by a friend. Inspired by their music, he developed an interest in rapping and began taking classes. Under People Crew's tutelage, he participated in the release of the Korean hip-hop album Flex in 2001, becoming the youngest Korean rapper at just 13 years old. Although he wrote his own lyrics, he admitted that his English was weak and the story behind the lyrics was just another typical "I'm young, but I'm the best." Additionall...
