Kara Talks about its Member Change and New Beginning

Kara made a comeback with its new mini album 'DAY & NIGHT'. On August 18, the girl group held a showcase in Seoul to celebrate its releasing new album, and talked about its member change and new beginning. It was the first time for the group to make its public appearance since its new member Heo Youngji joined the team last July.

Since its debut in 2007, Kara has been active as 5-member girl group, but in early 2014, its former members Nicole and Kang Jiyoung left the team. After then, DSP media reorganized the group by choosing a new member Heo Youngji, who is going to maintain Kara's reputation as a top Kpop girl group with the rest 3 members Park Gyuri, Han Seungyeon and Goo Hara.

However, it's true that Nicole and Kang Jiyoung's absence seemed to be a big blow to Kara, and there has been concern if Heo Youngji can fill the vacancy.

To this, Heo Youngji said "As this is my debut stage, I'm so nervous, but I'll try my best. When I was preparing for the album, I didn't even think I was tired because it was so happy to be with other members. I think we've worked in perfect harmony. The members teach me everything about filming jacket photos and music video."

Park Gyuri urged fans to pay special attention to Heo Youngji, stating, "She is really cheerful and cute. And she is very polite too. She always behaves in pleasant manner."

The title track 'Mamma Mia', composed by a hit make Double Kick, is a energetic music that has impressive syth sound and refined beat.

At the showcase, the Kara members performed 'Mamma Mia' for the first time, and Goo Hara said "Through the song, we danced Waacking for the first time. Well, I think it certainly isn't a dance for everyone. I had pains in my shoulder and had to get a massage to relax muscles. I found it tiring to begin with but now I got used to it. I'll try harder."

Park Gyuri stated, "We didn't intend to, but I think our albums are usually released in summer. I think it is because of Kara's cheerful energy, and 'Mamma Mia' is absolutely a summer song."

And added, "We didn't try to change ourselves. We just tried to show something different."

It is notable that the song 'Story', written by Park Gyuri, Hang Seungyeon and Goo Hara, is included in the group's new album.

About the song, Hang Seungyeon said "The 3 members wrote about each member's story, and we combined it to complete the lyrics. (Is it about Kara's former members?) We leave the rest to listener's imagination."

400 fans, including foreign fans from Japan and China, also attended the event, proving that the Kpop girl group is popular in foreign countries too. The Kara members greeted Japanese fans in fluent Japanese.

Han Seungyeon stated, "We will work far harder from now on to show better performance to our fans. We will kick off our concert tour in Japan, but at the same time, we will be active in Korea to promote our new album."

And added, "It has been about 8 years since we debuted and there have been many things which worried our fans a lot. I think I've been receiving undeserved love, and it's fortunate for me that our members are still beside me."

And Park Gyuri said "Kara is the most important part of my life. If my life is a book, Kara is like a book cover. To make the book cover well, I've been trying my best at every moment."
