How did Red Velvet's 4 Girls become SM's New Girl Group Members?


As SM entertainment announced recently, the agency's new girl group is about to debut. The girl group is comprised of 4 members, Seulgi, Irene, Wendy, and Joy, while all the expectations of Kpop fans are falling on their shoulders.

Then, don't you wonder how the 4 girls become SM's new girl group members? Let's see.

Seulgi was selected as SM's trainee through the agency's open audition took place in 2007, while Irene was chosen by SM in 2009. And Wendy passed the agency's global audition took place in Canada in 2012. If you want to be SM's trainee as a foreigner, Wendy may be a perfect example for you. Joy passed SM's global audition took place in Seoul in 2012.



When you have an audition, the most important thing is to differentiate yourself from other participants because there are so many people who want to be selected as one of the big agency's trainees.

Well, the 4 girls have something in common. Seulgi can sing, dance, play a guitar, and speak Japanese, while Irene can sing, rap, and perform modern dance. Wendy speaks fluent English, and can play various instruments such as flute, guitar and saxophone. Joy is eminent in singing and dancing. Yeah, all of them are versatile. In the world of Kpop, you have to stand out.

Add to this, the 4 girls have endured at least 2 years of training period, competing desperately to get a chance to make a debut. (Read this article to know more about Kpop idol's trainee life.) It is never easy to survive among so many competitive trainees. It's like a jungle.

As the agency recognized the members as promising potential singers, the girls could take part in various projects even before they are known to make a debut. Seulgi appeared in Super Junior-M Henry's music video of 'Fantastic' and also was featured in his song 'Butterfly'. Irene made an appearance in the music video of Henry's '1-4-3', while Wendy sang OST for the drama 'MiMi' featuring TVXQ's Max Changmin.

What Dynamic Duo Achieved Other Than The Scandal with Sulli

Dynamic Duo released its new album. The Korean hip hop duo that consists of Choiza and Gaeko is regarded as the representative hip hop artist in Korea, while the two met in the 6th grade of elementary school and have a long standing history of being friends.
