Kpop Album Review: B.A.P's First Regular Album 'First Sensibility'

BAP released its new album 'First Sensibility' on February 3, 2014. The album is BAP's first regular album since its debut in 2012, and it includes 13 tracks.

BAP shows off its powerful and intense feeling with the intro 'B.A.P', and it's suggestive of the group's former hits such as 'No Mercy' and 'One Shot'. As a 'Kpop warrior', BAP raps "We are strong-hearted bad boys."

However, with the second track '1004', they reinvent themselves as mature men. '1004', the lead song of the album, is a acoustic dance piece that has folk and rock elements. The song begins with attractive guitar sound, and the members sing about a lonely man who has experienced break up. Bang Yong Guk and Zelo uplift feelings with their rapping, while Daehyun, the lead singer of team, hits the high notes, getting people to listen.

Check out the music video of '1004'.

The album includes variety of genres such as hip hop, heavy metal and slow jam. You can confirm the members' effort to show many different sides of themselves.

'Easy', the third track of the album, begins with Bang Yong Guk's calm rapping and piano melody. Its emotional rhythm and lyrics capture listener's heart.

Fifth track's 'Check On' is a rhythmical hip hop piece, while sixth track's 'Shady Lady' is a jazzy song with the lyrics includes one's heart to his girl friend.

Besides, bright dance piece 'Lovestick', slow jam piece 'Body & Soul' and 'Bang X2' that includes intense heavy metal sound are also impressive songs. BAP shows off its charm as strong warrior with the song 'Save Me', while the members are calm and relaxed with the dreamy ballad track 'With you'.

BAP has put a lot of work into its first-ever regular album, and proved that they can deal with various music genres. Well, BAP was successful in transformation, and in that, they deserve to get the pass mark. I would say that BAP has already exceeded certain level as Kpop idol group. In 2013, they proved their competitiveness in overseas markets by holding tour concerts in various countries like the United States and Japan.

Of course, BAP is still on the way to find its own color as a idol group. I have not been convinced yet that they are doing their own unique music.

However, they are talented enough, and I think that they will be able to take themselves to higher level as artists in a few years.
